Practically Pink

Pink is the perfectly practical way to be.

For the second night in a row, I cannot sleep. I have these fits of insomnia every so often. The last one hit me in May.

I've been thinking about my family a lot lately. I really don't have much family left and it seems that my history is escaping me. There is nobody to tell me stories about the past anymore.
But last Thursday night something amazing happened. I got a phone call from my cousin in Alaska whom I'd never met! She was in Virginia and she wanted to come and meet me.

We spent three hours together and she told me so much about my family. Her father was my grandfather's brother.
They all had some far out nicknames (Tiny, Brub, Pork and their mother Poot).
Looking at my cousin Lisa is like looking at a ghost. She has so many features similar to my grandfather (Tiny and Brub did look an awful lot alike).
She invited me to visit her in Alaska next summer. I'll need to start saving my pennies but I think it will be worth it.

Here's a photo of Lisa and Jeremiah

Monday Monday

The baby and I both have colds and I feel like my house is a disaster. There's no doubt that I'd be in a heap of mess if I did not cultivate some organizational skills over the years. You know you have too many things when you don't have a place for everything and everything in it's place. So I will continue working as hard as I can, I only wish that I could be a little more satisfied with the fruit of my labor. I've often wondered if I have a little OCD when it comes to cleaning. I don't enjoy cleaning, but I'm driven to do it. Driven to madness.

Ah well moving on.

I made up a grab bag with little pieces of paper on which are written things to do while my son is napping in the afternoon. I have one thing for each weekday of the month. Each day I draw out a different scrap of paper to see what chore, fun or project I will work on. Today I will be napping! Which is good since I do need some more rest today.

As the CEO of this household I have planned our suppers for the week and here's what's on the menu:

Monday: Chicken Enchiladas / Jello Fruit Salad
Tuesday: Chicken and Noodles / Fresh Green Beans / Mango Slices
Wednesday: Lasagna (I'll make two and freeze one)/ Salad / French Bread
Thursday: Chicken Fajita Skillet
Friday: Steak and Fries / Fresh Veggie Sticks

I've also planned a few breakfasts - we like having crescents and rolls:
1. Chocolate Crescent Rolls (these are deliciously easy)
2. Sunday Morning Upside-Down Rolls
3. Cinnamon Nut Crescents

Well, the baby is waking up now from his morning mini nap, the Dr. Phil show is almost over (the show was so good today that I had to send him an email) and it's time to clean the Master Bed & Bath! DUST THOSE FLOORBOARDS!
